Atascadero sits along the original El Camino Real, The Highway of Kings 215 miles south of San Francisco and 218 miles north of Los Angeles.
There are nine exits from US101 that span the length of Atascadero. Santa Cruz/San Ramon Roads North of Atascadero Proper, Home Depot, Starbucks. Del Rio Road where Wal-Mart wants to build a mega-store. Exit 220B San Anselmo Avenue, find the Police here. Exit 220A Traffic Way, about to be re-named, the Center of Town. Exit 219 CA41 The Paddock Zoo and Morro Bay to the West, Creston and Shandon to the East. Exit 218B Cuberil, Groceries and Harley Dividson motorcycles. Exit 218A Santa Rosa Avenue. the south end of town, gaming and dining at Outlaws. Exit 216B San Diego Way. northbound only --- the dust from new developments. Exit 216A Santa Barbara Road. Cushing and Garden Farms.
